Better stuck high-up or caught under

A friend of mine is a fanatic scuba diver. He once told me his moment of hesitation following his instructor diving through a nested underground cave in the Caribbean.
The caves were half covered in coral sand. The opening was pretty wide but not high enough for 2 people squeezing in together. I was thinking “what if the ceiling scrapes off my air pipe” …
He followed, came through and was thrilled. Guess fear is the reason that you’re thrilled.
I’d think many people would have made a different choice. The snail below was wise enough to do so.
